You should collect all the information before the Everest Base Camp begins. Please make yourself clear about how you should prepare for the journey. Study about the altitude gains or the daily distances on the trek and prepare a daily training schedule back home beforehand. Have some acclimatization days in the middle of the trek

Please be sure that you have the right itinerary. You better have one acclimatizing day in each suggested place to adopt the altitude around 3,500m and 4,500m above sea level. Most of the people have one at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and the other at Dingboche (4,410m). All altitude-related research suggests that you need to acclimatize well at this critical point. Make a habit of regular training programs beforehand

You need to have an effective training program at home that gives excellent physical conditioning. Add weight to your backpack gradually building from 6kg to 12kg / 12lbs to 25lbs over 3 to 6 months of training. Building your hiking training from 3 – 6 hours once a week on uneven terrain both up and downhills. You should also be training an additional 4 times a week. Add some weight training to your program

Have a weight training program that gives excellent condition in your legs, calf’s, shoulders, core stability and back. You should try and work on your balance as a key element of your training. You will be walking on mixed terrain up and down hills and steep steps for 13 days with long days on your return from base camp back to Lukla. You will have three 20 km days. You need excellent preparation before joining our treks to Everest base camp.

Saving energy while on the trail is "SMART"

The journey to the Everest Base Camp starts at Lukla 2,850m/ 9,000ft and goes up to EBC 5,364m/ 17,500ft. Even the viewpoint "Kalapattar" is more higher with an elevation of 5,545m/18192ft. Walking slowly and steadily would be smarter. The key to climbing any mountain or trekking to a high altitude is to expend as little energy as possible while you're on the trail. Definitely, physical exertion is an important part of acclimatizing, along with hydration (4/5 liters per day), dining well and sleeping deeply. Simply ensure you keep your strolling pace moderate and keep your heart rate at a reasonable rate and not to fatigue your muscles and aid the recovery process as you move to higher altitudes.
