Trip Overview

Jomsom Muktinath Trek or simply the Jomsom Trek, in the lower Mustang region of Nepal is one of those treks in Nepal that greets trekkers with variety in terms of landscape, vegetation and the culture and lifestyle of people in Nepal. Starting from Nayapul, trek to Jomsom, Muktinath offers opportunity to walk on the Tibetan plateau conquering the altitude of almost 3,800m passing through well-cultivated terraced fields, indigenous villages, rhododendron forest, world’s deepest gorge (at Dana) of Kali Gandaki River in between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri (rising above 8000m), Apple orchards and finally, treeless, dry and arid land of the lower Mustang region.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you can relax or explore the bustling streets of Thamel for some souvenir shopping. In the evening, you may choose to take a leisurely walk or unwind at your hotel. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sightseeing Tour – Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Patan Durbar Square & Kopan Monastery

After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s rich cultural heritage. Start with a visit to Boudhanath Stupa, a prominent Tibetan Buddhist site. Next, explore Pashupatinath Temple, an important Hindu pilgrimage destination. Continue to Patan Durbar Square, renowned for its ancient temples and palaces. The day concludes with a visit to Kopan Monastery, offering serene views of the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 03: Sightseeing Tour – Swoyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Today, continue exploring Kathmandu’s historic sites. Visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, which provides panoramic views of the city. Then, explore Kathmandu Durbar Square, the historic heart of the city with its royal palaces and temples. In the afternoon, head to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, famous for its well-preserved medieval architecture and charming ambiance. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 04: Drive to Pokhara

After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a journey of approximately 200 kilometers taking about 5 to 6 hours. Enjoy the scenic drive through lush hills and terraced fields. Upon arrival in Pokhara, check into your hotel and relax. You may also take a leisurely evening walk along Phewa Lake or explore the vibrant Lakeside area.

Day 05: Fly to Jomsom and Drive to Muktinath

Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom in the morning, enjoying stunning views of the mountains. Upon arrival, drive to Muktinath, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Explore the temple and surrounding area before driving back to Jomsom for an overnight stay. Enjoy the serene environment and prepare for the next day’s activities.

Day 06: Return to Pokhara and Excursion

Fly back to Pokhara and enjoy a full day of sightseeing. Visit key attractions such as Phewa Lake, the World Peace Pagoda, and the lively Lakeside area. You may also choose to visit the International Mountain Museum or enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Phewa Lake. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 07: Annapurna Sunrise and Drive to Kathmandu

Early in the morning, drive to Sarangkot for a breathtaking sunrise view over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After taking in the stunning panorama, return to Pokhara. In the afternoon, drive back to Kathmandu. Check into your hotel and relax, or explore the city for any last-minute shopping and sightseeing.

Day 08: Final Departure

On your final day, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. If your flight is in the evening, you may have time for some last-minute shopping or photo organization before your flight.
